Afternoon, my dear readers,
Let me share something with you…
Me, having a constant fear of running out of food (do you have a thing, too?) surpassed myself this time…a little.
I bought, probably, 10 kg of bananas that did not fit into my fridge (isn’t it strange?). Obviously I haven’t eaten them all within a week and they rapidly began to ripen (being quite yellow already). I don’t know about you, guys, but I strongly dislike overripe bananas when they turn into a lusciously sweet mass.
I had to freeze 3 portions of bananas which I would happily use for my nana ice-creams later (like this). Then I decided I would use the rest of bananas in a very banana smoothie. I thought that I’d rather reduce the volume of my fruit salad, which I always eat with smoothies for breakfast (learn more about it here), and better add more bananas to my cocktail. Therefore today I’m delightful to share the simplest banana smoothie recipe in the world: bananas + spinach (for the color).
In my opinion the most delicious smoothies are those with bananas. But what if a smoothie is almost all bananas? It is incredible! I added some matcha powder for cheerfulness, but that’s not really necessary.
The easiest smoothie
- 4 bananas
- 100g spinach
- 1/2 tsp matcha powder
—> place everything in a blender and mix for half a minute.
Don’t be afraid to eat a lot of bananas, please. The old stereotype that these fruits are too high in calories and will make you gain weight are more of a myth than the truth. There is logic behind the statement though.
When doctors say you need to cut down on sugars they practically mean eating less all the sugars but those which are naturally found in fruits and vegetables. Bananas do contain sugars, but these are different sugars which are good for your health.
You may eat 15 bananas during one meal (if you manage), but ONLY if:
- you are very hungry, you haven’t eaten for a while and your next meal won’t be soon or won’t be nutritious enough
- you got to do a lot of physical job and you need a powerful supply of good calories that will turn into energy and give you the strength to execute the planned activity
The easy maths. If you want to loose weight (get rid of fat, not muscles), then eat less calories per day if you know you won’t burn them. If you want to gain weight, then choose whole foods higher in calories or eat more often during a day.
Bananas are your real superfoods
You don’t need bread or grains that much. Go and get the right calories that will add to your health and make you beautiful inside out! (Did you know that bananas contain amino acids which help your body get neurotransmitters which regulate your mood?). Tested.
