It seems funny, but every time I start writing a post I tend to begin it with laudatory words towards the dish ingredients. I like to say each ingredient in each of my recipes is my favorite. Well, what else can I do if I really cook with the best foods known to date;)
Today it’s about my two favorites – avocado and broccoli, both listed in my superfoods post. When it comes to snacking, my top choice would either be some avocado mess or hummus with some healthy chips or crackers. Just these two. And there are soooo many ideas for both!
Today I made a 5-minute snack using just avocado, broccoli, garlic, lemon, chili and salt (avocado dishes never survive without salt, trust me!). I don’t really know what to call it – a dip, a spread or a thick sauce. You may use it as a toast spread, have it as a dip for baked carrots and sweet potato chips or use it as a thick sauce for any leafy greens salad.
The idea to make this dip came when I realized I had some broccoli florets left after making a soup recently. I decided that it was best to use broccoli in its raw state and add it to avocado which help you get a perfect creamy mass.
So, the recipe
- 1 ripe avocado
- 5 broccoli florets
- juice of 1/4 lemon
- 1 large garlic clove
- chili pepper (raw or dried flakes)
- Mix all the ingredients well in a blender.
- Serve with raw veggies, organic veggie, flax or seaweed chips or favorite toasts.
*If you feel raw broccoli is hard on your stomach – you may steam it beforehand.
This green sauce is fully packed with vitamins and nutrients, it’s easy to make and is very filling. I see it as a good example of how fresh raw green ingredients make up a fast & healthy snack.
How do you like avocados most, in sweet or sour recipes?
